Akon (14 de octubre de 1981, St. Louis, Missuori) Estados Unidos, es un cantante-compositor de rap y R&B que a la edad de 7 años se trasladó a New Jersey. Su verdadero nombre es Aliaune Thiam y su padre, Mor Thiam, era un percusionista de jazz.
Akon grabó su álbum debut, Trouble, en 2004, en el que incluía éxitos como "Locked Up", "Lonely", "Ghetto" o "Bananza (Belly Dancer)". Además, es propietario de su propio sello discográfico, Konvict Music.
