Zyklon is a Norwegian blackened death metal band formed in 1998 by members of Norwegian black metal band Emperor Samoth and Trym, as well as former members of Myrkskog in order to make up for the fact that Emperor were no longer playing live. Despite Samoth being in a previous Emperor side project called Zyklon-B, the two are not related; while Zyklon B is the name of a lethal gas, Zyklon is, according to Samoth, a play on the word "cyclone." All the bands lyrics are written by ex Emperor drummer Faust who is currently a member of Casey Chaos' side project SCUM and Italian Industrial black metal band Aborym.

Zyklon's debut album was named "World Ov Worms". This album's sound was quite similar to that of Destructhor's band Myrkskog's album Deathmachine. The album was made up of extremely fast riffing and blastbeats aided by the vocals of Daemon and lyrics written by Faust, formerly the drummer for black metal band Emperor. However, after this release, Zyklon changed. Secthdamon was brought to replace Cosmocrator and Daemon, even though Secthdamon had been drumming for Myrkskog, still revealed immense skill as a fast, thrashy player on bass with creative vocal abilities. At this point the official line-up was Samoth, Trym Torson, Destructhor and Secthdamon.

Then came Zyklon's second LP, "Aeon", which exposed Zyklon to more media attention. The production is much more clear with the exception of "An Eclectic Manner" which was produced with the sort of cloudy and visualising effect that is reminiscent of Emperor, in order to create a more melodic yet insidious atmosphere. Videos were made for two tracks, "Core Solution" and "Psyklon Aeon".

The entire album is well written, music is creative yet concentrates on the rebellious manner of most of the newer bands. Guitar solos are more focused on speed, technique and melody all in one yet inducing mystical fear which can be recognized by Destructhor's Slayer influenced use of the Floyd Rose. Riffs are generally very catchy, being more specific, the slow, heavier structures are, however most are literally tuned down thrash. Drums are persistent yet jazz influenced which gives this music brilliant taste and never gets stale, Trym focuses on technicality, yet maintains a feel to his playing yet when need be, use the occasional blast beat to make smooth transitions from power to Havoc.

The bands third effort, "Disintegrate" was released on the 15th of May 2006 to great critical acclaim. Running up at 45:06, "Disintegrate" is Zyklon's longest album, and was recorded in November-December 2005 at the Akkerhaugen Lydstudio, Norway.
