Zibbudie Babbuhl (pronounced "zih-buh-dee bah-bull") refers to all acts of comedy, physical or otherwise, portrayed by or pertaining to individuals known as Babbuhlers or members of Babbuhlsquad, such that these acts define their lifestyle and social interactions. Zibbudie Babbuhl's improvised content is generally conveyed in person, in and around Montreal, though its reach extends to IM conversations and voice-enabled online gaming such as Xbox Live. When left to their own devices, Babbuhlers have been known to create short films, songs and podcasts.

The community around which Zibbudie Babbuhl is built has its share of running gags, though they are either too crude to be reproduced, require ample context, or are simply gregarious acts of slapstick, the appeal of which defies words. Among other circulating "jokes" are satirical interpretations of leet-speak, obscure catch phrases and references to fictional alter-egos.

Furthermore, the infamous "ZB Commentary" has been known to make any movie unwatchable in the presence of those who unify under the banner of Zibbudie Babbuhl, for the reason that Babbuhlers will attempt to parody the film as it plays, completely undermining any drama or development of character intended by its makers.

Those who accept Zibbudie Babbuhl aim to bring more humour into their lives and in doing so, help lay the foundation for a sub-culture of boundless, good-natured stupidity.

[edit] History

Circa 2004, two individuals known as Kyle and Jems became acquainted. Bred on sitcoms, video games and Internet culture, the two sought refuge in shreds of comedy others failed to grasp and combined forces to make laughter on an apocalyptic scale, if only for their own amusement. Refining their techniques and finding others who shared such a vision, the scope of their actions turned outward, with the betterment of mankind becoming Zibbudie Babbuhl's main objective.

The term "Zibbudie Babbuhl," in its current form, finds its origins in the episode "Brian Does Hollywood" from Family Guy where a fictionalized Bill Cosby exclaims, "Zip zop zippity bop!" In the great tradition of making something stupid even stupider, the dialogue soon became "zippity zoppity, bippity boppity." Progressively, the expression was phonetically rounded-off, resulting in "zibbudie zobbudie, bibbudie babbudie" at one point in time. Later, the first and fourth words, "zibbudie" and "babbudie" were combined, shortening the phrase even further and completely discarding the original. Finally, upon being muttered in the gravelly voice of Apples the Clown (a Zibbudie Babbuhl mainstay), the "-die" suffix of "babbudie" was lost to his thick accent. An "h" and an "l" were added to convey exoticism and end the expression on a hard sound, respectively. Once it was decided that the expression adequately summarized the humour put forth by Kyle and Jems, each word was capitalized to give the impression of a meaningful title.

In 2005, "Zibbudie Babbuhl Lane" was chosen as the name of the group blog for those who subscribe to the antics of Zibbudie Babbuhl.

[edit] Terms

"Zibbudie Babbuhl," used as an expression, oftentimes bookends such acts of comedy or brings them to the attention of all participants and passer-by. Otherwise, the expression is usually meant to convey victory, determination, or simply the celebration of human existence. Shifts in tone can present "Zibbudie Babbuhl" as akin to saying "such is life."

On their own, "Zibbudie" and "Babbuhl" have respective meanings within the context of Zibbudie Babbuhl. For instance,

Zibbudie - adj. Of a nature that strikes those who accept Zibbudie Babbuhl, as positive. ("[That is] so zibbudie.")

Babbuhl - noun. An event characterized by babbuhling. ("Our longest babbuhl on record.")

Club foot - verb. To play a song in its entirety an incredulous amount of times. Derived from an incident where, according to Audioscrobbler, "Club Foot" by Kasabian was played seventy-eight times within the span of two days. The term is used in conjunction with any artist or title. ("i swear, 'speak low' is club footed to the high heavens")

Zobble - noun. The great power of the bolt of Zibbudie Babbuhl, based in part off of Captain Marvel of DC Comics. In Zibbudie Babbuhl legend, calling out "Zobble!" (Zibbudie Ownage Bravery Bravado Love Energetic) would cause one to be infused with the power of Zobble and don the bolt, a simple yellow-lightning-bolt-on-red Captain Marvel shirt. ("Zobble!")

Deliver - verb. To win at an objective-oriented game (e.g: Halo 2, Splinter Cell) or otherwise succeed in "delivering the goods." ("Delivery! in the pizza!")

Riddick - verb. To complete a game with two or more players in one sitting. Derived from the time The Chronicles of Riddick Xbox game was rented and completed by known Babbuhlers in 8 hours and 36 minutes. Not all participants are necessarily seated for the entire duration of gameplay. The expression implies the game is not left alone for more than an hour and nothing productive is accomplished in the same space as it is being played. ("Let's riddick Eternal Darkness." "Cool.")

Clappo - verb. A new saying created by two members of Zibbudie Babbuhl, used to denote a showing to be of excellent standard, a play, an orchestral or a movie would all be prime examples, it is also used to substitute the mundane physical expenditure of clapping. ("VERY GOOD!! CLAPPO!")
