Yammy (ヤミー?) is a character from the manga series Bleach. He is the number 10 arrancar, making him an Espada and the 10th strongest arrancar in Sōsuke Aizen's army.

Yammy is a giant, warlike arrancar who enjoys bullying people around. His brutal nature is evidenced by his dispassionate slaying of a nameless arrancar medic solely to test his physical strength.[1] He is seen as arrogant and overconfident, but has no talent for sensing spiritual pressure or assessing opponents' strengths. This is one reason Yammy doesn't seem like a very intelligent arrancar. Kisuke Urahara points out he is slow to learn and Ulquiorra frequently has to explain things to him, like the fact that he cannot be seen by humans.
Yammy is quite tan, and his head is crested with a few odd ridges. He has long, bushy sideburns and a thin ponytail, but aside from that, he is bald. He has red markings under his eyes. His hollow hole remains in the middle of his chest, unlike other arrancar's holes which are elsewhere. What remains of his hollow mask is the jawbone, complete with teeth, and it rests on his chin.

Yammy first appears in Karakura Town along with his superior, Ulquiorra, as the first team of arrancar to scout out the human world. Their mission is to seek out Ichigo Kurosaki. Shortly after arriving, several ordinary humans gathered to gawk at the crater that Yammy and Ulquiorra had made with their arrival. Yammy assumes the humans are staring at him (although this is incorrect because spirits are invisible to almost all humans). Frustrated, Yammy proceeds to suck out all the souls in the immediate vicinity. Tatsuki Arisawa survives the encounter. Chad and Orihime Inoue arrive and attempt to fend off Yammy, but Yammy easily outmuscles Chad, and isn't even fazed by Orhime's Shun Shun Rikka.
When Ichigo arrives at the scene, he quickly slices off Yammy's arm, in revenge for injuring Chad. Yammy appears to be losing until Ichigo has to battle his inner hollow for control of his body. Yammy then takes this opportunity to injure him. He is about to kill Ichigo when he is stopped by Kisuke Urahara and Yoruichi Shihouin; after which they go on to make sport of him. However, before Yammy is about to be seriously injured, Ulquiorra steps in, and the two return to Hueco Mundo.
Yammy has his arm reattached in Hueco Mundo and heads off to Karakura Town along with Grimmjow Jaggerjack, Luppi and Wonderwice Margera, as part of the second assault on the material world. Yammy starts fighting against Tōshirō Hitsugaya, but his opponent is taken out by Luppi, leaving Yammy with no one to fight. Later, he performs a devastating sneak attack on Kisuke Urahara. However, Urahara manages to survive and seems unharmed, which confounds Yammy. After an exchange of blows, Urahara seems to have gained the upperhand, revealing he is using one of his inventions: a portable gigai (with which he is able to switch bodies just before getting hit). Yammy gets angry and claims that Urahara is looking down on him, but he is taken back to Hueco Mundo by a negación beam before the fight continues.
After Ichigo Kurosaki, Yasutora Sado, and Uryū Ishida invade the hollow world, he is the only Espada who seems worried.

Yammy has a technique to suck out the souls from the living, which affects a wide area, although people with spiritual power (such as Tatsuki Arisawa) have been able to resist this. He can also fire cero and bala blasts, like many other hollows and arrancar. He also possess a very powerful physical strength that rivals Chad's. Before Chad chose to train with Urahara, Yammy outpowered Chad by far. Since Chad has become considerably stronger now, it is not yet known if Yammy can still outstrengthen him.
[edit] Zanpakutō
The name and released state of Yammy's zanpakutō have not been revealed, as he has relied on his brute strength in battle, taking little interest in using his sword. When he was being pushed back by Ichigo he was going to release his zanpakutō but never went all the way in doing so.
