Worldwatch Institute

The Worldwatch Institute is an environmental research organisation in the United States.
It is an independent research organization that works for an environmentally sustainable and socially just society, in which the needs of all people are met without threatening the health of the natural environment or the well-being of future generations." It publishes "The State of the World" annually. Some of the Institute's publications are available as free (PDF) downloads after registration.
Founded in 1974, its leader was Lester Brown until 2001. Christopher Flavin was appointed president in September 2000
