Wolvercote Cemetery is in the north Oxford suburb of Wolvercote off the Banbury Road. Unusually, this single cemetery is divided into areas to accommodate graves of the Jewish and Muslim communities, as well as all categories of Christians. Many Russians, Poles and other East Europeans who did not belong to Oxford parishes, are buried here.

Probably the most famous person buried in the cemetery is the author and Oxford academic J. R. R. Tolkien, together with his wife Edith. Dimitri Obolensky, Russian prince and Oxford professor, is also buried at Wolvercote. Likewise two further famous Oxford academics, the philosopher Isaiah Berlin and the chemist E. J. Bowen, and the poet Elizabeth Jennings. T. E. Lawrence's parents, Sir Thomas Chapman, the 7th Baronet of Westmeath in Ireland, and Sarah Junner are buried here too.
