The current Beautiful Music format was Founded by Jack H. Jones the President and Chairman of Jones College and was approached with a donation from original owners of WKTZ-FM, the Rahall family. After taking over the station Jones appeared at the station with a hand full of albums from home instructing the DJ's to "Put these on and nothing else." After changing the music format to Beautiful Music, similar to what is played today, WKTZ, then at 96.1 on the FM dial began broadcasting its now trademark sound.

Jones College Radio, WKTZ 90.9 FM, is Jacksonville’s leading “Beautiful Music” station as reported by the Florida Times-Union. For over 44 years, the trademark Jones College sound has enjoyed a loyal following of dedicated listeners and can be heard 24 hours per day in private homes, businesses and professional offices throughout northeast Florida. The format is simple, minimal talk with automated station identifiers and public service announcements. News is aired at the top of each hour.
