State Trunk Highway 17 (often called Highway 17, STH 17 or WIS 17) is a state highway in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. It runs from Highway 64 east of Merrill north to the border with Michigan, where it continues as Forest Route 16 in Ottawa National Forest to US 2, M-28 and M-38.

Highway 17 travels through Lincoln, Langlade, Oneida and Vilas Counties in Wisconsin and serve the cities of Rhinelander, Eagle River, and Phelps.

This is the second iteration of the route number. The first iteration followed the path of WIS 42 and WIS 32 along Lake Michigan. The southern end of WIS 17 originally terminated in Merrill at then Business US 51, but was rerouted to its current location in the late 1980s. The northern end originally was in Eagle River (WI) but was extended to past Phelps (WI) in 1947.[1]

Today WIS 17 is a secondary highway which provides a cut-over for travelers destined for Rhinelander and Eagle River. It is two-lane for its entire length with the exception of the section that passes east of Rhinelander and the section within Eagle River, which are urban four lane.
