[edit] My userpage
Thanks for reverting my userpage. And your edit summary made me laugh. Joyous 21:40, Jun 23, 2005 (UTC)
Hehe - no problem :) Will => talk 21:41, 23 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Hi...nice catch on that movie article, but it's a hoax as well as a copyright violation. I've left a warning on the guy's talk page. Welcome to the club! - Lucky 6.9 21:53, 23 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Well. After that recent bout of vandalism on my user page, I feel like I should thank you for reverting it (and reverting it again, and again...) for me. You are truly very Wiki-nice, er, something. So thank you! --Dmcdevit 04:06, 26 Jun 2005 (UTC)
[edit] talk pages
A suggestion from an experienced RC patroller: when you revert vandalism, it's often helpful if you leave a note on the talk page of the user you reverted about the revert. Not only does this sometimes help to get vandals to stop vandalizing, but it helps the rest of us who do RC and vandal patrol to more quickly spot who has been warned already, escalate the warnings, and eventually block problem vandals. If you revert for content reasons (e.g. not NPOV), you should almost always leave a note on the article talk page explaining why you think the content you reverted was inappropriate; this helps to forestall edit wars. I see that you're doing some of this already, so I'm just asking you to be more religious about it. Keep up the good work! Kelly Martin 16:17, Jun 26, 2005 (UTC)
- Don't worry about getting every edit. There are lots of people doing vandalism patrol; any edits you miss someone else will get. Better to take the time to do it right. Kelly Martin 16:22, Jun 26, 2005 (UTC)
- You should leave {{test1}} or an equivalent on any inappropriate edit. {{test1}} is a pretty mild template. Escalate to the higher templates if the individual does not quit. (You can also create your own templates; I have a few I use in my user space.) Don't use {{test5}} unless you know that the individual is blocked, though. If you get to {{test3}}, you should also list the individual on WP:VIP to bring the situation to the attention of an administrator.
- See Wikipedia:Template_messages/User_talk_namespace for the full list of standard user talk templates. Also, when including a user talk template, it's best to always use "subst:" so that it's less obvious to the user that you're using boilerplate. Kelly Martin 16:32, Jun 26, 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Subst:'ing speedy deletion notices
Please do not subst: speedy deletion notices, as it's annoying (it causes the page to go over the threshold for autofilling the delete reason box with "content was:" and the content). --cesarb 29 June 2005 22:07 (UTC)

Nice catch on the copyvio (you got in about thirty seconds before I did), but you pointed to some generic Korean dude who, for some reason, was mirroring Sea World's page on killer whales, instead of to Sea World itself. Careful next time - especially if there's already a copyright notice at the bottom pointing you in the right direction. DS July 1, 2005 13:43 (UTC)
[edit] Thanks!
... for reverting my user page, that is. --Scimitar 5 July 2005 14:37 (UTC)
