William Mapother

William R. Mapother (born: April 17, 1965) is an American actor and former teacher. Mapother is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame. He taught school in East Los Angeles for three years before becoming an actor. He played the character Ethan Rom in the TV series Lost.
Born in Louisville, Kentucky he is a cousin of Tom Cruise and has served as a production assistant in many of his films. Like his cousin, he did complete a course in the Church of Scientology in 1989[1], although he has not referenced being currently active in the Church. His father, William, Sr., was an attorney and bankruptcy consultant and was a judge in Louisville in the 1960s; William Sr. passed away on June 22, 2006 after fighting lung cancer and pulmonary fibrosis.[2]
