Yuba County was one of the original counties of California, formed in 1850 at the time of statehood. This county was named after the Yuba River by Captain John Sutter for the Native American village Yubu, Yupu or Juba near the confluence of the Yuba and Feather rivers.

Louise Tennent Harrington8 was born on 15 Feb 1876 in Marysville, California.9 She appeared in the census on 7 Jun 1900 in Colusa Township.9 She appeared in the census on 29 Jan 1920 and again on 3 Apr 1930 in Washington, D.C.35 36 She died on 21 Apr 1942 in Vichy, France. It was the capital of Vichy France during the World War II Nazi German occupation from 1940 to 1944.

Fleet Admiral William Daniel Leahy8,37 (son of Michael Arthur Leahy (I) and Rose Hamilton) was born on 6 May 1875 in Hampton, Franklin County, Iowa. His father, Michael Leahy, a lawyer, had been Captain of Wisconsin Infantry Volunteers during the Civil War.

Young Leahy originally hoped to attend West Point, but there were no appointments available. When he completed high school in Ashland, Bayfield County, Wisconsin, in 1893, he was able to win an appointment to the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.

He graduated in 1897, 15th in a class of 47.38 Midshipman Leahy was assigned to USS Oregon (BB-3), then in the Pacific.
