This project shall be referred to as the WikiProject for Transportation in China.

All airports, seaports, expressways, roads of all grades, and railways, should be in the scope of this project. Geographically, this is limited to mainland China. The Hong Kong and Macao SARs and Taiwan do not form part of this project.

- Expressway exit numbering is optional but is a welcome component of every expressway article.
- If no speed limit is known assume it to be the nationwide 120 km/h.
- The "Road Conditions" section doesn't need to be completed in full if full information is not available on hand.
- The layout structures as shown below represent what the articles might look like when it is completed in full. It is not a skeleton layout that must be completed on its first go; rather, it is a blueprint for article evolution. Incomplete entries are accepted! :-)
- The schematic map section will be defined soon.

For the above sign (which is typical throughout expressways and ring roads with expressway/express road characteristics in China), the following format is recommended:
- ⇆ 5: (Intersection with Jingtong Expressway) Jingtong Expressway
- Expand all abbreviations (e.g., expwy -> expressway, rd -> road, etc...).
- The number in ovals/squares is the exit number.
- Chinese Hanzi (characters) are optional, but warmly welcomed.
- If different numbers are used for exits in different directions (if you know them), state it. If the exit only exists in one direction, state it.
If there is no exit number, the following is recommended instead:
- ⇆ (Intersection with Jingtong Expressway) Jingtong Expressway
- Omit the exit numbering in this case.

↓ = underpass

↪ = anticlockwise (ring roads only)

[edit] Image Guidelines
Please, people: no copyright violations. The monetary expenditures and deadpan judges are too much for us. ;-)
The images we value the most are images which are licensed under the GFDL or are in the public domain.
Non-commercial images and images with special permission for Wikipedia are less valued, but still accepted. However, if a similar version is available in a GFDL or PD version, we will take these instead.
A recommended upper dimension limit is 640x480. JPEGs are preferred.
Try to make every picture of every road/airport/expressway/etc... look like that the image shows something of its speciality. We all can take pictures of roads (black background, white interrupted lines, etc...), so try to make something that has a speciality of its own. Don't knock yourself out taking great photos. Photos complement the article, but remember this isn't exactly an art gallery. 80%-100% good pictures are accepted with wide open arms. Nobody dictated that we are a top-notch photo club! :-)
Don't forget the caption -- neither too short nor too long. Expressways/railway stations/airports/etc..., although they're immovable, do change over time. A little something along the lines of "(July 2004 image)" or so would be fine.
[edit] Step-By-Step Policy
If you know anything about a road/railway/etc..., please write it.
We are not expecting articles to be written (commenced) offline, the contributor freaking out over data research, the article be stalled for a decade, and sometime in the 22nd century, be fully written up and is compliant with the standards (which would have changed anyway!). As the initiator of this project, I (User:DF08) will be doing the work in adjusting transportation entries in the PRC to the standards as shown here.
We are not expecting perfection! Human inperfection is absolutely OK. Please don't knock yourself out while taking part in this project! Write what you know -- no more! :-) (that's a friendly smile).
