[edit] Scope
This project covers the creation and editing of articles related to the U.S. State Oklahoma, its cities, counties, geography, transportation, culture, history and so on. It aims to expand Wikipedia's resources on Oklahoma in a fair and accurate manner.
Frankly, most of the Oklahoma related articles are rather poor. This project is here to fix that.
Everyone is welcome to help out. In fact, there's more than enough work to go around. You can help us out in the following ways:
- reading over articles and giving your suggestions in the article's talk pages
- copyediting for grammar and clarify
- adding photos
- reverting vandalism
- citing sources
- fact checking
- minor or major research and contributions
- and more!

[edit] Adopt an article
Similar to the Collaboration of the week, but on a smaller scale, you might want to "adopt" an article. This would involve doing the research, writing, and picture-taking (if possible) for either a non-existent article or a stub. Of course, everyone else can still edit an adopted article, and you can work on other things too, but the idea is to find a focus for a while, to try and build up the number of quality articles the Project has produced.
Check Wikipedia:WikiProject Melbourne#Adopt an article to see how this section is used.

[edit] Requests
Got some requests? Add them here.
- Oklahoma_land_rush (Really, it needs a complete rewrite as it is riddled with inaccuracies)
- This article has now been redirected to land run and a seperate article for Land Run of 1889 has been created. We still need articles on all the other landruns, however.
- Add Template:Infobox School to all Oklahoma schools. Also, get photos of all schools for use in the Infobox. I've requested some photos for Tulsa schools. See the infobox at Edison Preparatory School.
- Review University of Oklahoma.
The only section I haven't updated yet is the Museums section which I will get to later.I might try to add a Research section if I can find enough information. But I am asking for members of this WikiProject team (although few) to review the article because I am going to submit it for peer reviewafter I complete the Museum sectionMonday, June 5th, at the earliest, and I'd like to get all the small kinks out before I did that.--Nmajdan 21:39, 1 June 2006 (UTC)- I got a guy I work with to have some interest in WP, so we'll both take a look over it and make some suggestions. Thanks for your hard work, I just hope you can give us a hand with the OSU stuff on here too :-D yah, we're both OSU grads. -- Ash Lux (talk | contribs) 15:39, 2 June 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah, I figured you were an OSU grad. I'm sure you guessed I was an OU grad. Well, at least you should be able to make sure I kept a NPOV in my edits. --Nmajdan 16:11, 2 June 2006 (UTC)
- I will be submitting this for Peer Review Monday at the earliest. If I am still getting feedback at that time, I will push back my submission until I get the changes made. Thanks again for the help.--Nmajdan 19:18, 2 June 2006 (UTC)
- Okay, I am fixing some of the minor things, but there's somethings I've noticed:
The article contradicts itself in the number of students attending the Norman campus. In the first paragraph it says 26,994 but in the "Norman Campus" section, it states 19,644 undergraduate students and 3,745 graduate students (which is only 23,389).I would also recommend only putting this number in once, not duplicated in two palces.- Yeah, I found a number of conflicting sources for student population. I thought I got them all consistent, but I will go back and correct this.
I'm not sure David Boren's achievements belong in the "Academic profile" section. A "History" section for this might be good.I'm going to leave this put for now, but before I apply for FA, I will write a history section and include that paragragh towards the end of that section.- I moved it to the history section, which is still under development.
- I'm really not too fond of the "Academic profile" section in general. IMO "Academics" is a better name for it. Look at how Michigan State University approached its Academics section. Make some notes on the demogrpahics, prestige (their "ranking" section), and research that has been done or is being done at OU.
- I actually pulled the Academic Profile section from the University of Michigan. I'll take another look at that section and decide what I want to do.
Is there really a Main/North/South campus division at OU?- Yes. When I worked at OU, we would regularly refer to "North Campus" and "South Campus." Although technically the law center and LNC is South Campus, we typically referred to South Campus as the NWC building and that area, but that is not technically correct. But yes, it is broken up that way.
The pledge's alcohol poisoning had more reaching effects than just the Greek community. Breaking this out into another section (maybe some kind of Current/Future section in the History section). It seems slightly out of place.I'll look into this.- Left a little info in the Greek section and moved the bulk of it to the History section. Added other consequences resulting from the death.
- The section of museums might be worthwhile moving to the Norman campus section if these things actually reside reasonably near the campus?
- Hmmm..... Ok, I'll think about this. Once again, I pulled this section from the Michigan page.
The bombing section seems out of place. Maybe into a history section?-- Ash Lux (talk | contribs) 22:27, 2 June 2006 (UTC)Ok, I'll look into that.--Nmajdan 13:37, 3 June 2006 (UTC)- Ok, it too has been moved to the history section.
- Ok, the history section isn't as detailed as I'd like it to be. I might try to acquire some OU history books over the next few weeks. But, is this thing ready for peer review?--Nmajdan 15:45, 6 June 2006 (UTC)
- Go ahead and submit this thing for peer review. They should have plenty of good suggestions. -- Ash Lux (talk | contribs) 17:16, 6 June 2006 (UTC)

How about making Chester, Oklahoma? Thanks, --Mitternacht90 23:33, 3 September 2006 (UTC).
- I think it's time Tulsa World got some attention. Part of the content was written by a World staffer, and there's some slow-moving debate about the paper's political alignment. --D Wilbanks 06:34, 18 October 2006 (UTC)
