Widnes-Runcorn Transporter Bridge

The Widnes-Runcorn Transporter Bridge across the river Mersey and Manchester Ship Canal had a span of 1,000 feet (304.8m). It was built in 1905 and it was in use until 1961 when it was demolished to be superseded by a high-level, steel-arch bridge.
