White maggot

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

White maggot is an Australian derogatory term for a field umpire in australian rules football.

The term comes from the uniform of white shirt and shorts worn by the umpires.

Typically yelled by spectators.

In recent years, the AFL has changed the colour of umpiring uniforms, spurring various derivatives such as "Yellow Maggot" and "Green Maggot".
