White Ninja Comics is a webcomic by Scott Bevan and Kent Earle, part of the Dayfree Press comic group. It was started by a group of eight in seventh grade. The website was launched in October 2002, and new comics are posted every Monday, Wednesday and Friday (prior to July 3, 2006, it was updated every Tuesday and Saturday). The website has received over 2000 pieces of fan art.

The comic follows the character White Ninja. The supporting characters are odd and sometimes inconsistent; many strips are surreal. The majority of the humour derives from the absurdity of each situation that White Ninja finds himself in.

[edit] History

According to the comic's authors, White Ninja was conceived in a grade seven classroom at Montgomery Elementary, where Scott Bevan doodled out a comic called "The White Ninja." Though the original comic has since been described as "un-funny" by its creator, it was enjoyed by his classmates at the time. While the creators were in university, White Ninja was a highly successful comic in The Sheaf, the University of Saskatchewan's student newspaper. There are now over 460 White Ninja strips to date.

[edit] Style

White Ninja Comics strips are simply drawn in black on white and its humor often utilizes non sequitur gags and physical violence. White Ninja's disturbing actions are allegedly meant to represent the hidden side of mankind, though this is probably a bit of satirical embellishment on the part of the authors[citation needed].
