WHEELS (New Jersey Transit)

WHEELS Suburban Transportation Services is a system of routes owned by New Jersey Transit and operated under contract by private companies primarily in western New Jersey in Hunterdon, western Somerset, and parts of Warren counties. The fleet consists primarily of minibuses and cutaway vans.

Some of these routes do not connect with any other New Jersey Transit routes.

Under WHEELS, there are currently thirteen routes. All operate only on weekdays.

  • 884 Somerville-Branchburg-Whitehouse-Clinton Bus-to-Rail shuttle
  • 890 Pohatcong Plaza-Easton via South Main Street (Deviated fixed route)
  • 891 Pohatcong Plaza-Easton via Heckman (Deviated fixed route)
  • 966 Convent Station Bus-to-Rail Employer Shuttle
  • 967 Sparta-Diamond Express
  • 970 Passaic-Totowa Express
  • 971 Paterson-Totowa Express
  • 973 Downtown Hackettstown Loop (Deviated fixed route)
  • 978 Newark-Raritan Center Express
  • 979 Irvington-Raritan Center Express
  • 980 New Brunswick-Piscataway Bus-to-Rail shuttle
  • 981 Port-Liberte-Grove Street (Jersey City)
  • 986 Summit-Berkeley Heights-Plainfield Bus-to-Rail shuttle
