Westgate Mall (Brockton, Massachusetts)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Westgate Mall is the oldest fully-enclosed shopping mall in Massachusetts, located in the city of Brockton 20 miles south of Boston. The 600,000 square foot mall opened in 1963 and was substantially renovated in 2000, reversing a trend of nearly a decade of decline wherein nearly all of the stores had vacated the center. Nearby malls, including South Shore Plaza and Silver City Galleria, dominated the market in the past 15 years, but the Westgate Mall today has repositioned itself as a smaller, more convenient alternative and as a result business has improved. The center also has substantial development on its outlots, including nearby outlets of Lowe's, Papa Gino's, a former Chuck E Cheese, Texas Roadhouse Modell's and a cinema turned into Dick's Sporting Goods and Toys "Я" Us and Wal-mart.
