Wekiwa Springs State Park is a 7,000 acre (28.3 km²) Florida State Park in Apopka, Florida, located 20 minutes north of Orlando, off Interstate 4 at exit 94. Activities include bicycling, hiking, snorkeling, swimming, canoeing, and camping (including canoe camping, horse camping, and youth camping), as well as picnicking, fishing, and wildlife viewing. Among the wildlife of the park are deer, gray fox, bobcat, raccoon, opossum and black bear.

Amenities include family, primitive and cabin youth camping areas, a nature center, two picnic pavillions, access to Wekiwa Springs, Wekiwa Springs Run, Rock Springs Run and the Wekiva River, as well as horse, hiking and boardwalk nature trails.The park is open from 8:00 am till sundown year round. The nature center is open Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Wekiwa Springs is also the headquarters to one of the state's five AmeriCorps Florida State Parks chapters.

[edit] Swimming, Snorkeling, Diving

The main attraction at Wekiwa Springs Park is the Spring. The swimming area varies in depth from under a foot to five feet, and a small 15-20 foot deep cavern at the source of the spring. The cavern extends deeper into a cave.

Snorkeling is permitted, and this is a good place to for beginners to get started, though there isn't too much to see. There were some fish near the surface and a turtle in the area near the bridge.

SCUBA and specifically cave diving are not permitted. The cave has been explored in the past to a distance of about 50 meters.
