[edit] Hunting

Waupaca County has an extremely healthy population of whitetail deer. In 2001, Waupaca County harvested a total of 8,988 deer for the regular 9 day season. That total harvest had about equal harvests of bucks and does. Due to the fact that a certain lumber company, based in Tigerton, WI started leasing out their land, there will be considerably less public hunting lands. This could considerably effect the future deer harvests in the county. However, the massive deer population in the county is becoming a problem for motorists. The number of deer-related car accidents is increasing vigorously, even resulting in a death on Haffner Road in the Township of Weyaugega in mid-fall of 2006.

[edit] Facts

Waupaca County is home to two notoriously haunted places: the graveyard in Readfield, and Marsh Road near Weyauwega. The Iola-Scandinavia area is also home to the unsolved 1985 murder of police officer Gerald Mork. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Waupaca County Sherrif's Department. The Fremont area is known for it's numerous bigfoot sightings.
