The song was released in March, 1993 in United States and Canada only. In U.S. it was a commercial release, in Canada - a radio single. "Water from the Moon" was the fifth single from Celine Dion album and the fourth written by Diane Warren. The track was produced by Guy Roche, with additional production by Walter Afanasieff. Diane Warren sings also background vocals on this single.

Two music videos were made for this song. The first is entirely in black-and-white. Later, they modified the video to include additional footage of Céline, colored brownish-yellow (1993).

"Water from the Moon" had a moderate success on Adult Contemporary format. The song reached #11 on Billboard Adult Contemporary in United States and #13 on Canadian Contemporary Hit Radio Chart.
