Wasim Jaffer pronunciation  (born February 16, 1978 in Bombay - now Mumbai) is an Indian cricketer, and a prolific scorer in Indian domestic cricket. He is a right-handed batsman and he bowls a right-arm offbreak.

He had a messianic entry into first class cricket, scoring a triple century on debut. An opening batsman, with the style of Mohammed Azharuddin, much was expected of Jaffer as he entered Test cricket for the first time, however, the bowling talent of Shaun Pollock and Allan Donald was too difficult for Jaffer to cope with, and he would not start another international match for some time. He was recalled to the Test team for the tour of Pakistan 2005-06 in the wake of excellent domestic form. It was in the next tour that Jaffer scored his maiden Test century scoring exactly 100 against England at Nagpur.

Jaffer is part of the List A team thanks to some good performances in both 2003 and 2004.

Jaffer scored his first Test double century at the Antigua Recreation Ground against the West Indies in June 2006. In July 2006, his position as India's first-choice opener to partner Virender Sehwag was confirmed via the award of a central contract (Grade C) by the Indian cricket authorities.
