Wase is an area of southern Plateau State, Nigeria. Politically, it is a LGA of Plateau State. It is also a traditional state in Nigeria which became official when Wase State was founded in 1820. This became part of the British Niger River Protectorate (later Northern Nigeria) in 1898.

Wase is also the name of a town in the centre of the region which lies at the crossing of roads from Bashar, Langtang, and Shendam.

Wase is also the name of a river running through the area
