Walter Ayoví

Walter Ayoví Corozo, nicknamed Macaco (born 11 August 1979 in Guayaquil) is an Ecuadorian football player. He plays side midfielder for Club Deportivo El Nacional in the Ecuadorian league as well as in the national football team, where he surpassed Jose Gavica as the owner of that position.

Ayovi was transferred to Barcelona Sporting Club from Emelec on January 23, 2002, for an undisclosed amount. Despite rumors linking him to several European club sides, including Arminia Bielefeld of Germany, Ayoví remained on Barcelona's squad until 2006, when he was transferred to Club Deportivo El Nacional

He was one of the Ecuadorian footballers of the Ecuadorian national team that qualified for the 2006 World Cup in Germany. He was not included in the final World Cup squad.
