[edit] Discussion

Yes, this page should clearly be called Waking Ned. The movie is an Irish movie and was called Waking Ned in Ireland. It should be moved. There is no need for an lengthy discussion.--Play Brian Moore 17:59, 7 May 2006 (UTC)

Given that it was filmed in the Isle of Man with money from the Isle of Man government, calling it an "Irish" movie strikes me as cultural imperialism by a larger nation, though I do agree it should be called "Waking Ned". Dabbler 18:15, 7 May 2006 (UTC)
"no need for a lengthy discussion?" Based on that conceit, I am all for a lengthy discussion! If anyone knows the sales figures, perhaps it should be known by the name of the most successful English-language market. Anyone? Chris 21:38, 7 May 2006 (UTC)
Sales figures (UK & US) are here. Release dates are here: Norway 6 November 1998...USA 20 November 1998...UK 19 March 1999. Since it seems have been released in Norway first, let's just call it whatever it was called there, OK? Ewlyahoocom 11:52, 8 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Country of Origin

None of the producers of the movie are Irish. The main one, Tomboy Films, is British. I have amended the country in the infobox to United Kingdom. One might argue for Isle of Man but that was mainly the location, though The IOM Film Commission was an associate producer. The cast and setting is Irish but that's hardly relevant. This doesn't affect the rename vote in any case. jnestorius(talk) 12:14, 10 May 2006 (UTC)
