Dr. Edward Todd Urbansky (b. 1969, McKeesport, Pennsylvania) has a Ph.D. in inorganic chemistry from Purdue University and a B.S. in chemistry from Allegheny College. His Ph.D. research, performed under Professor Dale W. Margerum, was titled "Kinetics and mechanisms of some environmentally relevant systems."

He currently works for the United States Air Force at the Joint Oil Analysis Program Technical Support Center, a tri-service function located in Pensacola, Florida. In this position, his primary responsibilities relate to oil quality measurement technology and engine wear debris measurement technology. A major focus of his work is the development of real-time handheld and portable instruments for in-field use at the mechanic level.

Previously, he was a research chemist for the United States Environmental Protection Agency at its National Risk Management Research Laboratory in Cincinnati, Ohio. His work in the Water Supply and Water Resources Division there focused on perchlorate, fluoride and fluorosilicates, and disinfection (chlorination and ozonation) byproducts. Most of the work was related to trace/ultratrace measurment, but some was focused on fate and transformation.

Dr. Urbansky is the author of more than 40 journal articles and editor of a book: Perchlorate in the Environment. He previously served on the AWWA/APHA/WEF Standard Methods Committee, as a member of the international advisory board of Journal of Environmental Monitoring, and as a member of the editorial board of Journal of Environmental Management.
