[edit] National Liberal Party
As used in United Kingdom general election, 1922 "National Liberal" seems to link to an inappropriate article. Laurel Bush 13:39, 4 October 2005 (UTC).
That is correct. There have been two (major) National Liberal Parties. The first lasted about a year and were the remnants of the "Coalition Liberals" after the Lloyd George Coalition broke down about a month before this election. They rejoined the Liberals before the 1923 election to offer a unified Free Trade platform against Stanley Baldwin.
The second National Liberal Party broke away from the Liberals midway through the 1929 Parliament, to fight on a platform of protectionism, in concert with the Conservatives and National Labour Party in the National Government. It is this which is in the article. 129.67.53.94 20:55, 9 January 2006 (UTC)
