Colin Ybarra (born March 5, 1987 in Oakland California) is the Wikipedia user Quietpeoplerock.

[edit] Biography

Colin Ybarra was born to parents James S. Ybarra and Laurie A. Davis-Ybarra. James was a sailor in the Navy and for most of his son's early life, they moved frequently, living in American cities including Arlington, Virginia and Newport, Rhode Island. In the summer of 1992, the Ybarra family settled in Ocean Beach, San Diego, California, and would stay there for the next six years. On September 23, 1992, James and Laurie had a second son, Christian Alexander.

Ybarra was enrolled in a kindergarten class at Ocean Beach Elementary School and continued at the school through fifth grade. He did not attend preschool. While at Ocean Beach Elementary School he played clarinet in the band under the direction of a local jazz saxophonist, Ernie Morgan. He was also a member of the safety patrol. In addition to school extracurriculars, Ybarra also played Little League baseball and YMCA basketball, learning most of his fundamental sports skills from former Point Loma Nazarene University athlete Chris Brisco.

In the summer of 1998 Ybarra's family moved to Honolulu, Hawaii. While active as a young child, Ybarra has said that after moving to Hawaii, he began to mellow and quiet down as he went through puberty. He also claims that he could not harmonize with the Honolulu school system, as his grades began to slip after enrolling in Aliamanu Elementary School.

After spending two years in Honolulu, James Ybarra was transferred to Corpus Christi, Texas. The family moved to Portland, Texas in March of 2000. Colin Ybarra had difficulty adjusting to his new environment but eventually found a place. Upon entering Gregory-Portland High School, Ybarra joined the marching band, continuing to play the clarinet. Ybarra was also a member of the National Honor Society, and during his senior year became a member of the newspaper staff.

In October of 2002, Ybarra's mother was diagnosed with leukemia. While the news was hard for Ybarra, a visit to the M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, where his mother was being treated, reassured him that his mother was in good hands and getting excellent care. Deciding not to have a bone marrow transplant, Ybarra's mother underwent chemotherapy treatment, which her grandfather, Dr. William Davis, a chemist, contributed research to at the University of Chicago. The cancer went into remission.

Ybarra graduated from high school in May, 2005, and enrolled at Depauw University in Indiana, where he currently studies.

[edit] Accomplishments

Ybarra's best claim to fame is probably as YTMND user Quiet-People-Rock, the creator of the site myjob.ytmnd.com Are You Trying to Tell Me How to Do My Job!?, one of YTMND's moderator favorites. He is also one of the oldest active members of the Gamewinners.com forums.

He found recognition as the creator of Jace & Cindy, a cartoon he drew for the Gregory-Portland High School newspaper, and also recieved an award from the National Hispanic Recognition Program for, in his own words, "being smart and Mexican."
