Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities (PAASCU) is private, voluntary, non-profit and non-stock corporation which was registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission on December 2, 1957. It is a service organization which accredits academic programs which meet commonly accepted standards of quality education.

In November 1967, the Bureau of Education and Culture (now the Department of Education) officially recognized PAASCU and endorsed its work as an accrediting agency.

What exactly is PAASCU? It is an accrediting body composed of different private educational institutions that stamps other private schools with a quality standard they have attained with regard to their programs. From Levels I-III, with III being the highest in program accreditation, PAASCU will judge the academic standing of each private academic institution. If a school has reached Level IV (institutional accreditation), this signifies that the school has reached the highest accreditation status and excellence in the academe.
