Philip VanBrugh

Philip VanBrugh (? – 1753) naval officer and Commodore Governor of Newfoundland, born England.
VanBrugh was appointed governor of Newfoundland in 1738. During his term as governor, VanBrugh had recorded information about the nature of the fishery and tallying the inhabitants of Twillingate and Fogo.
