Philadelphia Baseball Wall of Fame

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Philadelphia Baseball Wall of Fame was established in 1978 to honor former stars of both the Philadelphia Phillies and Philadelphia Athletics. Its original location was behind the 200 level concourse at Veterans Stadium. From 1978 to 1982 and 1984 to 2003, one member from both teams was inducted. In 1983, to commemorate their 100th anniversary, the Phillies selected players for a Centennial Team. No individual players were inducted that year.

The 2003 season was the last in which a member from both the Phillies and Athletics was inducted into the Wall of Fame. In 2004, the Phillies moved into Citizens Bank Park. They relocated the plaques of their inductees to Ashburn Alley behind center field, renaming it the Phillies Wall of Fame. The team inducts a new member each season.

In March 2004, the Athletics' plaques were relocated to the home Philadelphia Athletics Historical Society in Hatboro, Pennsylvania.
