Phi Lambda Chi

Phi Lambda Chi (ΦΛX) is a U.S. national fraternity founded in 1920.

Phi Lambda Chi was originally called the Lamb society and was founded as a fraternity for high school boys. However, after many of these boys graduated from high school they wished to continue their association while in college at the University of Central Arkansas. A new secret society was formed on March 25, 1925 and was named the Aztecs. Two years later the university allowed fraternities to adopt Greek letter names. "Aztec" was subsequently dropped and the name Phi Lambda Chi was finally chosen in 1930. In 1934, the college faculty at Central Arkansas allowed fraternities to nationalize. It wasn't until January 19, 1939, that Phi Lambda Chi voted to expand nationally with the encouragement from faculty and alumni. As of February 2006, the fraternity has 8 chapters.
