[edit] It is officially known as Channel 3
What does this mean? Grant 12:18, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
- Legally, the franchise-holders have licenses to broadcast as part of an entity called "Channel 3". In practice, the name is not used in any other context. --Bonalaw 17:49, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
- I see. I've now linked it. Grant 23:15, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
Neither of the articles (ITV or ITV1) discuss its style of programming or public perceptions thereof. Like the fact that when ITV celebrated its 50th anniversary some people congratulated it on 30 years of quality programming and 20 years of crap.
[edit] Schedule removal
I had to remove the schedule from the article, regardless of its unencyclopedic value (see section 1.7.3. of WP:NOT), schedules from the BBC, ITV and Channel 4 require a royalty fee to be paid to Broadcasting Dataservices (BDS), as per schedule 17 (and not section 17 as I put in the edit history - whoops!) of the Broadcasting Act 1990. A similar situation occurred with the GMTV article not so long ago either. no source And I quote from Broadcasting Dataservices:
The programme summaries are the subject matter of copyright. The information may only be reproduced pursuant to a licence issued by the copyright owner or pursuant to the statutory licence set out in Schedule 17 of the Broadcasting Act 1990. This ruling affects BBC1, BBC2, ITV and Channel 4 terrestrial channels only. Broadcasting Dataservices is the agent of BBC Worldwide, the ITVA companies and Channel 4 in the matter of issuing copyright licences and collecting copyright fees. |
Please don't add a schedule back into the article. More information and sources can be found here: Wikipedia talk:Copyright problems#Potential legal issue with UK Radio station schedules within articles --tgheretford (talk) 12:40, 4 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] New Idents
It is rumoured that on Monday 13 November ITV1 will have 5 new idents either replacing or running with the current set, but keeping the logo. Although no source has been given. see this link from TVforum. London UK (talk) 23:55, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
