ITU Telecom World 2006

ITU Telecom World 2006 (Traditional Chinese: 2006年世界電信展) is a large-scale convention and exhibition hosted by the People's Republic of China (PRC), which is being held on 4 December-8 December 2006 at the AsiaWorld-Expo in Hong Kong.
ITU Telecom World is the most important event of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) for worldwide telecom industry and it is held every 3 to 4 years. Since its first hosting in 1971 in Geneva, Switzerland, it had never been held elsewhere. Thus ITU Telecom World 2006 is the first time the exhibition is held outside Geneva.
According to Hong Kong Government, this event will attract more than 100,000 visitors from overseas and bring the revenue of HK$12 billion.

[edit] Details of the exhibition
The event is divided into two parts: Exhibition and Forum. In the exhibition, the newest telecom equipments, service and technogies would be shown to visitors; in the forums, participants can discuss the policies, regulations, technologies, business applications and business environments.

To match up this exhibition, the operater has invited Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB) for "Host City Special Media Partner". TVB has recorded the speaker in the forum and produce television programme "ITU Telecom World 2006". TVB Jade and TVB Pearl has broadcast the programme during the exhibition period.
