Infernal Legion is an active Washington-based death metal band. The band was formed in January 1999 by Erik Armstrong (Guitar), Justin Thomas (Drums) & Josh Smith (Vocals). Originally, Infernal Legion was known as Eviscerate. Two additional guitarists joined the group in 1999, John Anderson and Doug Stern, the latter of which is a current member. Four months after releasing their debut self-titled demo, 'Eviscerate', in July 2000, the band changed their name to Infernal Legion. Also, that same year, John Anderson departed from the group, as did Josh Smith, temporarily. Their songs are remanisent of older style death metal, with lots of riffing and brutality. Vocals are typical low death metal style, but with some higher black metal style overlays.
Infernal Legion signed with Moribund Records in 2004, and has been working on an upcoming release titled, 'Flood the Fire'. Since 1999, they have recorded one demo and two albums. The demo was recorded in February 2000. In September 2001, Infernal Legion recorded their first full length album, 'Angelicide'. In 2003 'Your Prayers Mean Nothing' was recorded, and released in 2004. 'Flood the Fire' is scheduled to be recorded & released in 2007.
In April 2004, Infernal Legion toured the Western United States, their first tour. The tour stretched two weeks, through 11 venues, ranging from Everett, Washington to Las Vegas, Nevada. Currently, a slightly larger tour is being planned, for 2007, which will take the band through Texas and all points in-between. This future tour will last three weeks, through 18 venues.
The lyrical themes of Infernal Legion's songs dwell mostly on Satanism and all things anti-Christian, but also mix in adequate amounts of classical death metal gore.
