Infernal is a Danish dance act, who made their national debut in 1997 with the release of the "Sorti De L'enfer" single. Infernal initially consisted of Lina Rafn, Paw Lagermann and Søren Haarh but Søren left the group in 1999. They are known for their experimental song style and successful blend of unusual music genres and club music. An example of this is their smashhit "Kalinka" which is founded on the Russian Drobushki folk melody.
In 2004, their fourth album From Paris to Berlin was released, the title track of which has become their biggest international hit so far, becoming a chart all over the world. "From Paris to Berlin" is the only song released by a Danish act nominated at the Nordic Music Awards 2005 giving Infernal yet another triumph. The Nordic Music Awards is the biggest music event in Scandinavia broadcast to viewers in Denmark, Sweden and Norway. Nominations are based on sales figures in all three countries; however, the audience and the viewers are the ones to determine who will take home the prestigious statuettes. Ahead of the World Cup 2006, "From Paris to Berlin" has been re-recorded for English fans with lyrics celebrating the English football squad with the title "From London to Berlin". However, the song was withdrawn from radio airplay and TV following England's knockout from the World Cup. In May 2006, it reached #2 in the UK charts and remained in the top five for seven weeks. Their latest single, "Self Control", a cover of Laura Branigan's song, was released on the 6th of November 2006 (UK).
