The Indo-Aryan ethnic group is the majority ethnic group of individuals of North India (excluding Dravidians and Mongoloids) and Pakistan (excluding the Indo-Iranians and the Dravidians). Other Indo-Aryan communities are extant in Nepal, Bangladesh and parts of Afghanistan. The Roma (Gypsies) also are Indo-Aryans. Most Indo-Aryans are speakers of Indo-Aryan languages. The largest group are the speakers of the Hindustānī (Hindi-Urdu) language, which encompasses two standardized registers in the form of the official languages of Hindī and Urdū, as well as several nonstandard dialects. Indo-Aryans also speak many other languages including Bengali, Punjabi, Marathi, Gujarati, Oriya, Siraiki, Sindhi, and many others (see Indo-Aryan languages). The Indo-Aryan ethnic group is broken down into several different ethnic groups: Assamese, Biharis, Bengalis. Chhettris, Chittagonians, Gujaratis, Jats, Lohanas, Marathas, Marathis, Marwaris, Muhajirs, Nepalis, Oriyas, Punjabis, Rajputs, Romas, Seraikis, Sinhalese, Sindhis, Sintis, and Tarkhans.
