Icahn Stadium

Icahn Stadium is a track and field stadium in New York City. Downing Stadium was originally built on the site, before being torn down in 2002. Icahn Stadium opened in the same spot two years later. The light standards were reused from Downing Stadium, having actually been originally used more than 50 years earlier at Ebbets Field. Currently it has 10,000 box seats on the final straight, and has the ability to hold over 35,000 spectators.

The stadium is the official outdoor stadium of the USA Track and Field (USATF) Hall of Fame and is the home to the USATF Elite Running Circuit's Brookland Athletic Club, Central Park Track Club, Long Island Track Club, New Balance Racing Team, and New York Athletic Club. The stadium hosts the New York Relays annually, and it has hosted the NCAA Championships, the USATF Championships, and the Olympic Trials. It is one of the most used track and field stadiums in the United States, hosting over 100 meets each year. The stadium is also home to New York soccer matches. There has been talk of Icahn Stadium actually hosting a New York City expansion team from Major League Soccer, but large volume traffic access to the stadium and Randalls Island where the stadium is located has always been difficult.
