Dresden, Ontario

Dresden, Ontario is a town in the southwestern part of the Canadian province of Ontario. It is a part of the municipality of Chatham-Kent. Dresden is best known as the home of Josiah Henson, the former American slave whose life story was the inspiration for the novel Uncle Tom's Cabin. The Henson homestead is a historic site near Dresden today. Dresden is located on the Sydenham River. The community is named after Dresden, Germany and was formerly known as Fairport.
