DreamHack

DreamHack is a LAN party arranged annually since 1994 and twice annually since 2002 in Jönköping, Sweden. DreamHack has also hosted some demoscene competitions. The DreamHack Winter 2004, held on November 25-28, 2004, in the Elmia exhibition center, had 5272 attendees and 5852 computers connected to a single local area network and was recorded by the Guinness Book of Records and Twin Galaxies as the world's largest LAN party. The 2005 official 10th anniversary DreamHack Winter was attended by 7538 people according to the Dreamhack organization.
At Dreamhack Winter 2006 the organisation tried and succeeded in beating the existing world record for the biggest LAN party. Their goal was to get 10,000 people there. As of October 15, 2006, tickets for 10,000 people had already been sold.[citation needed] At 18:33 local time on the first of december, a representative from Guinness Book of Records officially announced that the record had indeed been broken, the new record is 7752 attendants and 7788 computers connected to the network.
The numbers have now been crunched and the total amount of attendants of DreamHack Winter 2006 was 10638.
