You tagged aesthetics with a tag for possible inclusion in the next CD project, this involves trying to use "GDFL images" what does that mean? Is there a wikipedia page I can go to to see how to try to comply with this? Thanks. Bmorton3 16:04, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

Dennis, I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciated having your photos of Oradour Sur Glan available recently. After having been there, during this past Spring, sans camera, I was having some difficulty in adequately describing the true nature of the place, and the related events, to friends who were interested in the case of Oradour. Cam you check Image:WW2 TitlePicture For Wikipedia Article.jpg?
Image:Arbeit macht frei.png isn't Public Domain, so I think the complet picture can't be Public Domain when one of the parts isn't Public Domain.
And for Image:Red army soldiers raising the soviet flag on the roof of the reichstag berlin germany.jpg exist a Deletion requests.

Commons:Deletion requests/Image:Red army soldiers raising the soviet flag on the roof of the reichstag berlin germany.jpg - I've changed the licence for the montage to cc-2 (Creative Commons Attribution 2.0 License), so the issue regarding Image:Arbeit macht frei.png does not apply anymore. The original was cc-2 and the derived work is now also cc-2.
Generally, I think we should keep the montage as it is, with its new license as cc-2. I think it is highly unlikely that there should be any problems (but I'm no expert on copyright stuff). Rather than deleting this montage image, it is better that I make changes to it, if problems, however unlikely, arise.

I'm a novelist, interested in knowing more about the ventilation system of the bunkers - doing research on Albert Speer for a possible novel. He supposedly planned to assassinate Hitler with poison gas introduced into the main ventilation shaft, originally at ground level, but found a chimney had been built four metres high around it. There's some confusion/questionability to the story, and I'm trying to form a visualized picture. hi, rather than delete this picture it should be at the top "the key picture", as this represents the end of the Nazi,for which some 30,000,000 + Russiand died, taking thev full brunt of the Nazi war machine and destroying it, it represents the Victory of Mother Russia and the women of the USSR as well as the men of the Glorious Red Army who smashed the German Terrorists and this picture tells that story the Nazi beast is dead burned in the ruins of Berlin rather than face the just rath of the people of the FREE world. While D-day as Churchill said at the time represented "the step back into Europe" and the "Step over Hitlers wall", a major milestone on the way but not an end in itself. and as a footnote, It is not the vetrens of the USSR who spend their time wailing and lamenting their great loss or their hurts, but the current bunch of Neo-Nazies - the Isralie, who should no better than what they are up to in the Mid-East. When the Yanks retire from or are beaten out of that region we can expect serious setteling of old scores that a few nukes will not stop. Isreal has learned nothing neither have their co-religious around the world. [they lost maybe 10,000,000 or less than 25% of the USSR losses so why the perpetual wailing and the Germans based on personal experiance - Kassel - are no better]. Please move this picture to Key location. I suggest other pictures for your mountage. - Hi, unknown! Not sure I get it, but I think you mean you'd like to see the Soviet flag over the Reichstag as the top picture. Actually, before I completed the design of the montage, I found that in my opinion the very best pic to symbolize the war would be the Soviet Reichstag flag - it is simply a great photograph! But there are some problems: the design works much better with the D-day pic at the top (it is wider than the Soviet flag pic). Furthermore, most people recognize the importance of D-day much more than the importance of the Eastern Front. - Hi, unknown! I am not sure I understand you. Do you mean the piechart with casualties? Well, if you do, then: If we split Yugoslavia into the different nationalities then the Yugoslavia casualties will fall into "Others", and then Yugoslavia won't be named in the piechart, which would be a little unfair considering the sacrifice. By the way, the same thing applies to the Soviet Union, but I don't think anyone would like too see a general piechart with all the different Soviet states individually listed... [edit] inclusion of Honey bee in WPCD - might need to shift to Western honey bee
Hi. Just thought someone on the WPCD team ought to know; the Honey bee article was flagged as WPCD material, but has been restructured; the article is intended as a general article (I give mouse as a perfect parallel example article), but had been essentially overrun by content that was only appropriate for the Western honey bee article. The content that was earmarked for inclusion in WPCD has, accordingly, been moved to the latter article. There are 7 species of honey bees, and the Honey bee article is for the group as a whole, not just for the one well-known species (Apis mellifera"). This content shift is in keeping with the goals of both Wikiproject Arthropods and Wikiproject Beekeeping, and expect it will be kept this way in the future. It's unfortunate that the article was left the way it was for as long as it was, because a lot of links were made to that page that REALLY should be directing people elsewhere. [edit] Allied invasion of Italy
Hi Dennis. In your recent edits of the above article in the 'Further Allied Advances' para you have implied that the defensive lines from the Volturno Line northwards were all part of the Winter Line. Now in the various literature there is a fair confusion as to what the Winter line was. Sometimes it is used as an alternative name for the Gustav Line, sometimes for the greater Gustav defenses including the Reinhardt and Adolf Hitler lines (currently the definition implied in the Wikipedia article on the Winter Line), sometimes it is all of these plus the Caesar line just south of Rome and its subsidiary Rome switch line!! However, I've never seen a reference which includes the lines south of these (ie the Volturno and Barbara lines). I've tended to assume the second option. If you can point me to a clarification of this I would be deleriously happy!! Otherwise I would propose to modify your edit to reflect the separateness of the Volturno and Barbara identities. I heard about the place by pure coincidence just a couple of days before I would travel to France and participate in the 60th anniversary of D-day. When I heard about Oradour, I immediately decided it was a place I had to try to visit as well. The town is a little "off-the-beaten-track", i.e. not in any usual tourist region, but I am glad I visited it since the place had a significant impact on me.
