Division of Brand
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Division of Brand is an Australian Electoral Division in Western Australia. The division was created in 1984 and is named for Sir David Brand, a long-serving Premier of Western Australia. It is located in the coastal region south of Perth, and includes the towns of Kwinana, Mandurah and Rockingham. It has been held by the Australian Labor Party since its creation, but has never been a safe seat. Its member since 1996 has been Kim Beazley, Leader of the Labor Party 1996-2001 and since 2005. Beazley (previously Member for Swan) won Brand by a very narrow margin in 1996, but has since stengthened his position.
