[edit] Userboxen page
Hi Deon! I've been meaning to ask you (for about a month now) if you'd like me to put all those userboxen into a wikitable (you can see what I mean at my userpage; helps keep boxes of different sizes orderly (reminds me of when I didn't know how to make tables and what my page looked like :-( It was pretty creepy!
So, uh, let me know :-) Bellito, master of all things Mac-related 00:35, 28 November 2006 (UTC)
- Per your request, I tidied up the place :-)

Userbox cleanup | User:Deon555/Userboxen | It's a wiki world! Wikifavors are appreciated, as always. |

- *clears throat* That was an er, unexpected redirect to follow from the word "friggin." When you're 11 years old, you don't expect that kind of thing ;-) But I digress! I'm glad you like the new arrangement so much! It's so worthwhile to help wikifriends like you! Bellito, master of all things Mac-related 03:28, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
- Update: My sister signed up for Wikipedia a few weeks ago and is, thus, new. She is a bit "wikilost," so to speak. I thought you might like to see her userpage and maybe say hi! She would really appreciate that, as her wikilife (I love wiki- portmanteaux!) is a little bit slow right now. Bellito, master of all things Mac-related 03:40, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

Hoho, your userboxen were messed up?! Well, looky here... At least you're advocating a UNIX operating system (Linux. I use Mac OS X [also UNIX] and am a self-professed Mac geek.) To heck with dual-boot (the bridge [to UNIX operating systems] is crossed, so stand and watch it burn! We've passed the point of no… re……turn!
—that would look cool in {{cquote}} i bet
But I digress! I'm glad I'm not the only one overusing userboxen, but it stands at this: you have an odd number of userboxen. Since all tables are fickle by nature, they require an even number of things or they become embarassed and look ugly. So there are three options here:
- Revert it (with navpops, of course! i use popups too)
- Add more userboxen to odd-numbered sections (userbox feng shui, I suppose)
- Insert a friendly, Deon-esque phrase into the tables where an odd number of userboxen is to be maintained
Just drop me a line and I'll work with you to achieve the best possible layout! Bellito, master of all things Mac-related 01:02, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
- Well, I'm sorry to find that you dislike Linux... I like UNIX better :-) But I'll see if I can find, oh say, a Vegemite userbox?... :D Anything related to you should work, I'd think. Bellito, master of all things Mac-related 16:30, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
- On the contrary, I'm happy to say that your userboxen are once more in order! Below is your total:
Item description | Location | Fee | Notes |
---|---|---|---|
Userbox cleanup | User:Deon555/Userboxen | It's a wiki world! Wikifavors are appreciated, as always. | No notes for this task |
UB-maintenance | User:Deon555/Userboxen | You can't put a price on Wikilove! | Done in multiple edits. |
It's friends like you that make Wikipedia such a great place to be :D Bellito, master of all things Mac-related 03:37, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

I want to edit a section called "Gettysburg Navigator" on Battle of Gettysburg page, can you help me?
I was trying to edit the awards section of the Channing Tatum page and inadvertently did not use the sandbox, thereby ruining the entire section! UW Jakey 07:15, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Welcome to the AMA!
Hello Deon555, I see that you have decided to join the AMA. I'll be the first to say welcome! We're always in need of more advocates, especially since were backlogged most of the time. Just a few pointers for what we do. We communicate by putting a template on our talk page. The template is {{AMA alerts}}. The AMA also has it's own IRC channel which reports new cases to us, and also new alerts. If you'd like to jump right into a case, you are free to check out WP:AMARQ, which is our new request for advocacy system. The instructions for how the technical part works is on it's talk page. You can also use the AMA userboxes that appear under here. If you have anymore questions about the organization, just ping any advocates talk page, including our coordinator, Steve Caruso. Again, welcome to the AMA! -Royalguard11(Talk·Desk·Review Me!) 00:13, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

Random fact: You don't need to be an admin to close an AfD :D
. Provided that a) The consensus is entirely certain (i.e, all keep votes and nominator changes his mind), and b) It would be uncontroversial to close it early (so the AfD page is free of ongoing debates, and everybody is in agreement). More to the point, the AfD is now closed, Cheers. --Michael Billington (talk • contribs) 08:16, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] I'm looking for help!
{{helpme|I received an email this morning and am unsure what to do about it}}. You can see the email here.. Should I take this to WP:AN?
Even though it's almost clearly a fake.. it's still troubling me a little bit, to know that I didn't even leave any comments or anything on that IP's page :s. Thanks! — Deon555talkdesk 23:18, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
- You should have just really come into IRC. Anyways, if you look you have never edited User talk:66.98.131.109 for a first. Second, how do they get your email. Third, the IP resolves to Houston, Tx, so Belgium can't touch them. But, it's an open proxy (open on port 80, you should probably check that). Anyways, ANI is probably a good place to start. Other users (admins/crats) will probably know a better solution than the few of us monitering this. -Royalguard11(Talk·Desk·Review Me!) 23:25, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] The Unknowable Metrics of Notability
- Hi. I have included citations from a number of online and print publications. 2 of the several publications listed and linked to within the text have extensive Wikipedia entries and very broad circulation within Australia. What further evidence beyond linked citations is it necessary to provide? The notability guidelines do not stipulate numbers explcitly. I would be so very grateful if you could tell me how a "serious" notability is measured or proved. Thanks again.
[edit] Thanks for your help

[edit] Clerk for Requests for Checkuser
Hey Deon555,
I am messaging you to ask whether you would be interested in reassuming your role as a Request for Checkuser clerk. Currently, the clerk duties are being shared among three experienced clerks, and we have added two new clerks, who are currently in the learning stage. We are currently experiencing backlogs and long waiting times for some actions to occur.
As you are currently listed under "inactive" on our clerk roster, we're asking that if you are willing to resume these clerk activities, please leave a message on my user talk page (quick link). A number of things have changed, so we reccommend re-reading Wikipedia:Requests for checkuser/Clerks/Guide. The guide is currently being rewritten, but the new and updated version should be available by 00:00 December 12, 2006 (UTC) at the latest.
If you aren't interested in being a checkuser clerk any longer, we accept your decision and thank you for your service; it would be greatly appreciated if you'd leave me a note that you're no longer interested. If you would like to resume your role in the future, but can't do so now, please mention so on my talk page, and I'll note this on our clerk register.
Thanks for your cooperation,
Daniel.Bryant [ T · C ], Head Clerk, for Essjay (talk), 05:12, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for your reply (see [1] :D). On the topic of that page, can I get you to fill in the blank sections next to your name (location, time zone etc.) Cheers, Daniel.Bryant [ T · C ] 07:51, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

- By the way, I noticed your userpage. Are you retired for good, or just for a little while (ie. a Wikibreak)? Daniel.Bryant [ T · C ] 07:54, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

I respect your decision to leave, but did you have to make the notice in Richmond colours? Collingwood has done far better this last year ;) Michael Billington (talk • contribs) 08:00, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
- Hey Mike. I was feeling apathetic enough to just copy it from User:anonymous_anonmous just like i'm not gunna bother piping that link... Also note the link at the bottom of User_talk:Daniel.Bryant — Deon555talkdesk 08:02, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Admin coaching, etc.
Are you ready to get started?
The waiting time over at Admin coaching is long (some people have been waiting in line since July). I'm an admin coach with the project, and for my students I set up a group discussion page so that we could all learn from each other. The scope of this concept has expanded into the Virtual classroom, which is an open forum for the teaching and learning of advanced Wikipedia skills.
Anyone and everyone is welcome to participate, as a student, as a coach, or both. Every week or two a new major topic of discussion or classroom assignment is introduced, usually with a guest writer who presents his or her expertise on the current subject and who remains on hand to answer questions. Everyone is encouraged to participate in the discussions, such as sharing your expertise, asking and answering questions, etc.
The current topic of discussion is vandalism, and our guest writer is Budgiekiller.
All discussions are open-ended, so all previous discussion topics and classroom assignments are still there for viewing and further participation. There are also sections for posting miscellaneous topics and questions, requesting coaching assistance, etc.
In addition to inviting those who would like to learn, I routinely invite experts from all over Wikipedia to come and contribute for the benefit of all. The VC is rapidly turning into a clearing house of the best resources, methods, and techniques known for working on Wikipedia.
You are cordially invited to participate.
Here's an announcement box which you can place on your userpage or at the top of your talk page for keeping up to date with classroom assignments.
I hope to see you there. Sincerely, The Transhumanist 08:43, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
