[edit] Achievements

The Commission gave a new momentum to the process of European integration, notably presiding over the signature of the Single European Act in February 1986. The Commission can also be considered as the "Founding Fathers of the Euro" as they laid down the foundation for the Economic and Monetary Union (EMU) in the Treaty of Maastricht (1992).
