From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I am an American currently living in California. I am married with two stepsons, both of whom are also married and have children. I have spent most of my working life managing human services programs for people with mental retardation, the homeless, dislocated workers, veterans, youth and others. My father was a career Air Force officer and mother was English (a World War II bride). We traveled abroad a lot so when I was growing up we lived in several foreign countries (a total of twelve years): England, Japan, and Germany. Later I spent a year in Thailand. Due to my father's work and later my own, I have also lived in several different states: Pennsylvania, Texas, Maryland, New York, Missouri, Georgia, and now California.

I have a Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts and a Master's in Child Development both from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA (yes! Bill Cosby's alma mater!). As one of my hobies, I have studied history since . . . well, a long time. I am interested in political history (specifically American and British), the history of the sciences and religions, and in the historical sciences such as astronomy and cosmology, evolutionary biology, and paleontology. History, history, history . . . history from every angle. I think my real interest is "origins" . . . I want to know where things came from, and why they are the way they are. That leads to the study of history.

My wife and I both love reading and have a very large library now on: history (of course), science, religion, literature (English and French), art, and medieval crime novels. We collect art and artifacts most from the medieval and Victorian periods and some Chinese. I also enjoy cooking, gardening, and movies.
