David Wicks was Pat Evans's eldest Son in EastEnders.He was played by Michael French.It was clear David didn't have many friends in Walford during the three years he lived in Albert Square,1993-1996.Trouble wasn't far away,he was attacked by Grant Mitchell for chatting up Sharon in the Queen Vic,he and his daughter Bianca Jackson went off on a driving lesson but their car broke down on a country road and they didn't return to the Square until early the following morning,he and Phil Mitchell fell out over money and worst of all,David had an affair with Ian Beale's wife,Cindy.When Cindy agreed to leave the Square with David in 1996,to live in Dublin,she decided to sort out Ian once and for all.She paid a known East End hitman called John(played by Bill Ward)£40,000 to have her husband killed in broad daylight in the Square.On the day of the Shooting,Ian had the day off work and Cindy phoned John to tell him she had changed her mind about having Ian killed but she was told it was too late to call it off.Later that day Ian met Cindy in the Square and they agreed to go for a walk.As the two of them walked into Turpin Road,the gunman's car(black Volvo saloon)slowly followed them and then drove closer and closer towards them.After Cindy said'Oh,Ian,watch out!',the car pulled up next to Ian ,stopped,the passenger window opened and the gunman leaned out ,pointed his gun at Ian's head and then he shot Ian in the head.The car then drove off and Ian collapsed in a pool of blood.Ian was in hospital for several weeks but he managed to survive the shooting and tell the Police about the gunman's car,the black Volvo saloon.When David found out about the shooting and Cindy being involved in it,he was really angry with her when he confronted her.DAVID SAID TO CINDY:'YOU PAID SOMEONE TO SHOOT YOUR HUSBAND!' The aftermarth of Ian's shooting was too much for David and he packed up and left Walford for good,he also finished the relationship,a month after the shooting in November 1996 on a Plane heading for Ireland.David was never seen again after that.Cindy was arrested for the attempted murder of Ian in April 1998 by DCI Mason(Walford CID) and she was charged with conspriacy to murder.Cindy's estranged boyfriend,Nick Holland like David in 96',also dumped her after hearing what happened to Ian on the day of the shooting.She later died in prison giving birth to David's new baby son,also called Simon,named after David's half-brother.At Cindy's funeral,Ian told the vicar about Cindy's affair with David and how it destroyed the marriage in the first place.
