David Rodrigo
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
David Rodrigo is a football manager, currently the manager of the Andorran national team.
Rodrigo, who has a degree in physical education, began his coaching career with the Catalan side UE Lleida, working with their junior teams before moving on to CD Binefar in the Spanish Third Division. He led Binefar to promotion and victory in the Copa FederaciĆ³n, before moving on to international management.
His first game in charge of Andorra was a narrow loss against France but they have since lost all their subsequent qualifying fixtures. That is a total of 28 in all to put Rodrigos task into perspective, although he has established an Under-21 side and generally improved their organisation.
In September 2006 Rodrigo drew the ire of many when he reportedly told Israel captain Yossi Benayoun that Israel was a "nation of killers" and threatened to have Benayoun's legs broken. [1] Andorra midfielder Juli Fernandez offered his apologies to Benayoun on behalf of his team. Rodrigo has denied making these comments. The Andorran government could take action against Rodrigo if he is found guilty [2].
