Date with an Angel is an American film which was released in 1987, starring Emmanuelle Béart and Michael E. Knight. The romantic fantasy/comedy was a updated reworking of the 1942 film I Married an Angel and released by De Laurentiis Entertainment Group.

Date with a Angel tells the story of Jim Sanders, an executive at a cosmetics company who's about to marry Patty Winston, who happens to be the daughter of Jim's boss, Ed. That is until a mysterious being from the clouds above changes things.

It appears that Jim also suffers from a bad tumor and his headaches have gotten worse, leading to indications that he will die, and thats where an angel comes in as she is given the task to bring Jim's body back to heaven on the night of his engagement party.

But those plans would lead to a major detour: After his three buddies 'kidnap' Jim to take him to another party for him at his home, Jim decides that he had enough of partying and goes to sleep, but would wake up to see a bright light illuminating from his apartment's swimming pool...and discovers the angel knocked unconscious after her wings were clipped by a satellite. Jim at first thought it was a joke but by the time morning comes he gets a reality check and discovers that this angel is a real one, complete with wings!

Knowing the fact that her presence could attract too much attention because of moral and ethical reasons and it could hurt his upcoming nupituals to the spoiled Patty, Jim decides to keep the angel shielded from the world while he helps her repair her wings. However his buddies and his boss have other plans after discovering the blonde beauty in his house, while Patty mistakes her as the 'other' woman after she sees the angel at his apartment and later seeing him on TV rescuing her from being exposed to the world by his buddies (after they kidnapped her by using Wendy's French fries as bait, after seeing Jim give her a taste and proceeded to eat the fries, paper and all).

After they escape to an old hideaway that he knew from childhood, Jim finally helped the angel restore her wings, allowing her to return to the pearly gates. But when Patty (who brings a shotgun so she can kill Jim, although she has gone delusional, and at this point, drunk), her father, Jim's parents and his buddies get there to confront him, things get out of hand between everyone involved. Among the chaos Jim's uncontrollable headaches would cause him to collapse on the ground, and when the angel returned to save him, she invoked her wrath by "raining" on Patty and Ed's parade by unleashing stormclouds on the two.

In the hospital where Jim was in a coma, almost everyone thought that he would pass away as his tumor problems persisted. But when the angel came back to see him, Jim would learn that she was there to carry him home to heaven the night of the party when her wings were clipped. But instead of fulfilling her duties to carry him back, she actually saved him...and in the process she returned to earth as a normal human being so she can be with him after she was given time off for "Good Behavior" and assures Jim that he'll be around for a long time ("...On the HIGHEST authority..."). But before they can start their romance, the first thing that she want to eat as a human...is French Fries!
