Daniel Pinkham

Daniel Pinkham (born June 5, 1923 in Lynn, Massachusetts) is an American composer, organist, and harpsichordist.
He studied composition at the Berkshire Music Center (Tanglewood) with Arthur Honegger and Samuel Barber, and later studied with Nadia Boulanger in Paris. He is a member of the faculty of the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, where he is senior professor in the department of musicology. He also taught at the Boston Conservatory. He is best known for his series of cantatas, especially the Wedding Cantata and Christmas Cantata, and for his organ works.
In 1990, Pinkham was named Composer of the Year by the American Guild of Organists.
Among Pinkham's notable students was the jazz musician and composer Gigi Gryce (1925-1983).
