Dainose (ダイノーズ Dainōzu?) is one of the 493 fictional species of Pokémon creatures from the multi-billion-dollar[1] Pokémon media franchise – a collection of video games, anime, manga, books, trading cards and other media, created by Satoshi Tajiri. The purpose of Dainose in the games, anime and manga, as with all other Pokémon, is to battle both wild Pokémon, untamed creatures encountered while the player passes through various environments, and tamed Pokémon owned by Pokémon trainers. Its name is derived from the Japanese "dai", for "great" or "large", and the English "nose".
[edit] Characteristics
Dainose's body shape is not too different from that of its pre-evolution. Dainose has little round eyes. Its nose is much bigger in proportion to its body and has a bushy "moustache." The "moustache" appears to be iron filings caught by a magnet. Two orange disks sit on top of Dainose's head. It has three small objects on its sides and back that looks like Nosepass, they are also called "Chibi-Noses" in the Pokédex entry. Possibly, if Dainose were viewed from above, it would have the appearance of an actual compass. One might say that Dainose resembles Nintendo's own Mario or a Mr. Potato Head. Dainose also bears a resemblence to the Moai, as does Nosepass. Particularly, Dainose takes after the "hat-wearing" version.
[edit] In the video games
Dainose is one of several Pokémon from Pokémon Diamond and Pearl that evolves from a Pokémon that was released in a previous generation. Dainose evolves from a Nosepass that has leveled up on Tengan Mountain (compare to Jibacoil).
